So, it all started when I finished Uni. I produced a warm collection of fur-coats, wooden earrings, wall-hangings and hair accessories. I spent many sleepless nights beading and hand-sewing with feathers, bird’s wings, knit and wooden buttons to finalise a collection of accessories for Winter. My final collection combined sustainability with my Canadian heritage. I initially researched indigenous tribes, in particular, the First Nations of Canada. The harsh climate and environment meant these people predominately used fur and woollen products. I recycled fabric to produce my final collection.
Drawing helped me produce my final collection. I wanted it to be warm, BOLD and exciting.
My accessories flew out the window at the degree show and gained me commission work.
They became popular for occasions such as weddings and birthdays.
I then went on to selling my work at http://en-gb.facebook.com/GrannyProud & http://www.perthshireweddingshow.co.uk/
My work was featured in a fashion blog from a lovely lady who bought one of my Fascinators and happily posted about me in her blog. http://stylescanner.blogspot.com/2011/02/birds-of-feather.html
Just a small update for today. More to follow in the week.
